How the appointment actually runs.
- 1. Setting Up
Windows open, towels down, and your stylist sets out everything for a long service.
- 2. Clarifying Wash
A deep wash first, so nothing sits between the treatment and your hair.
- 3. Applying the Keratin
Worked through in small sections, root to tip, with none missed.
- 4. Sealing In
Blow-dried, then flat-ironed section by section to lock the keratin into the strand.

Avoid This
- Washing your hair for three days, while the treatment sets
- Ties, clips or tucking hair behind your ears for those three days
- Sulphate shampoo afterwards, which strips the treatment out
- Swimming pools and seawater in the first week
Please Note
- Good ventilation is needed — windows open, and a fan if you have one. These treatments release fumes when heated, and a home is not a salon with extraction
- Not advised during pregnancy or breastfeeding — check with your doctor first
- If your hair was coloured recently, leave one to two weeks before this treatment, and never book both for the same day
- Tell your stylist about any previous smoothing, rebonding or keratin, and about scalp sensitivity, when you book
- Long or thick hair takes longer than the booked time suggests

- Wash two or three times a week rather than daily.

What does keratin actually do?

Is it the same as rebonding?
No. Keratin coats the hair; rebonding chemically changes its structure and is permanent until it grows out.
Why can I not wash it for three days?
The keratin is still bonding to the cuticle, and water, pressure or a hair tie in that window undoes it.
Can I do it on coloured hair?
Yes, but leave one to two weeks after colouring, and never both on the same day.
Is it safe in pregnancy?
Most doctors advise waiting. Check with yours before booking.
